PCG Masterclass - Mar 9th 2012
"The five best sources of clients, for an independent professional"
John Niland is patron of the European Forum of Independent Professionals, and is running a one-day PCG Masterclass in London on Mar 9th 2012; entitled “The five best sources of clients for an independent professional"
What are the most effective ways for a freelancer to get clients? John Niland has been working with independents for over a decade, and now has the experience of > 550 freelancers from which to draw. Here are the "top five sources", in order of importance.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Repeat work from current clients
2. Personal introductions and referrals
3: Keeping in touch with people we already know, or have just met, in ways that have value for them
4. Strategic partnerships and alliances
5: Our showcase: website, LinkedIn profile, social media etc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What works best, even in the current climate? What is NOT worth investing in?
In this all-day Masterclass with a small group of PCG members, John outlines the classic pitfalls to avoid, and works with each participant to develop a weekly action-plan that is both realistic and effective. This is structured in terms of specific tasks under five headings: the "five best sources", and further tailored for individual style and sector.
In addition, individual feedback is provided to each delegate on their value-proposition, so that the full value of their services can be highlighted. This is often where the problem lies! That's why places are restricted to 12.
